Bluebonnets

Spring in Texas, 03.04.07

It's a beautiful time of the year to be in Texas. Near perfect temperatures accompany the springtime green, and the highways are painted with color in a sudden proliferation of wildflowers. The most cherished of these wild blossoms is the state flower ... the bluebonnet. It's a Texas tradition to pull off on the side of the road and admire these annual gems. It is commonplace to see families parked taking sunny springtime pictures in the roadside fields of blue. Alexis and I recently did the same. On a beautiful hill in the middle of the highway on Loop 12 just south of Irving we found a little piece of bluebonnet heaven. There hidden among the bonnets and grass we found a teddy bear with a curious winter cap crocheted with the ambiguous "1987" ... we don't know.
