September 2003

I have moved to the Southwest to study the East.

-------------------    School begins - St. John's campus    -------------------

St. John's will be my home for the next year. Grad school began Sept. 1st at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Campus is currently in bloom with wild flowers and is complete with mountain views and a central gold fish pond. 

-------------------    Zozobra    -----------------

The man of gloom and doom - every year thousands converge on Santa Fe for the burning of Zozobra. He is an eighty foot moving puppet who groans and waves his arms as the audience chants and screams "Burn him! Burn him!" ... eventually the fire sprits at his feet light him; and it's all down hill for Mr. Gloom after that. Fireworks explode and people cheer. It's very pagan.

We got kittens! A cream colored boy, and a dark tiger girl - Yin and Yang. They have no real names yet ... but we refer to them as Destruct-or and Destruct-er.
